Popular Korean skin routines

How many of us are obsessed with K-pop and K-drama’s? And even more fixated on getting flawless Korean glass skin? The secret to achieving glowing skin like your favorite characters from the K-drama’s is a daunting task. Let us explore the Korean skin beauty routine that features ten different hydrating and moisturizing skin techniques. This enables the skin to stay youthful, radiant and supple.

Cleansing:

Throughout the day, we face grim, dust and pollution that gets lodged on the skin surface causing it to break out. A thorough cleaning process is necessary to keep acne, dull spots, white and blackheads at bay. Start by cleansing your face in an upward motion with an oil-based cleanser. In case you have oily skin, use a mild cleanser. Rinse with lukewarm water after massaging the face for two to three minutes. Oil-based cleansers are less irradiant and effectively eliminate water-based sunscreen.

Foam Cleansing:

There are plenty of organic foam based cleansers available in the market. An apple cider vinegar based foaming cleanser is ideal for all skin types. To maintain the pH balance of the skin, it requires double cleaning. Foam the facial and neck area with the cleanser and gently massage in upward motion. Rinse with lukewarm water once done. This method will naturally exfoliate and hydrate the skin.

Scrub:

Opening up of the pores will cause skin to gather dust and pollutants. Therefore, it is necessary to exfoliate, utilize a facial scrub to gently remove dead skin cells and dirt. Once done dab the face and neck with a wet towel.

Application of Toner:

Toners easily blend with the natural texture of the skin, causing it to appear radiant. But before using a toner do a test patch, avoid alcohol-based toners which make the skin dry. Using a cotton ball, lightly apply toner on the face and neck. This will help in moisturizing the surface.

Essential oil treatment:

Popular treatments include rose oil, lavender oil, tea tree oil and jasmine oil. Applying essential oils to your skin helps heal imperfections and scars. It is also aids in skin regeneration. Dab a cotton ball with the essential oil of your choice and pat it all over your face and neck. Afterwards, massage gently, letting the oil penetrate the skin.

Serum booster:

A facial serum is a more concentrated, heavier version of an essence. It basically contains dynamic ingredients to respond to specific skin problems like wrinkles, pigmentation and dark spots. Take a small amount of the serum onto your palm and gently massage the neck and face regions.

Relax with a face sheet/mask:

This step requires you to relax with a mask for about 20-30 minutes. Thus allowing the serum, vitamins and minerals on the sheet mask to be absorbed onto the skin. This special treatment leaves the skin naturally radiant, gentle and supple.

Taking care of the eyes:

We generally ignore the skin below the eyes which is highly prone to dark circles, early signs of aging and dark spots. During the Korean skin care treatment special attention is given to this particular area. The application of gentle eye creams will prevent age-related skin problems, lighten dark circles and remove wrinkles. Take a small drop of eye cream and dab it gently under the eyes.

Moisture locking:

The nearly final step is to retain moisture at the surface of the skin. In case of oily and combination skin using a lotion-based moisturizer is recommended. For extremely dry skin butter/cream based moisturizer is perfect. Take a small quantity of cream, lotion, or gel and gently rub it on your skin. Massage your skin in circular movements for ten to fifteen minutes.

The sunscreen magic:

Before going out into the sun, protecting the skin is essential. SPF keeps your skin safe from harmful UV rays. A full spectrum sunscreen is recommended to prevent UVA or UVB rays from damaging your skin. If you have oily skin, it is advisable to use a physical or mineral sunscreen to avoid plugged pores.

Finally, if you have learned to like the dew like effect that accompanies the glass skin that you have worked so hard for, misting the skin with hydrating serums periodically will help maintain and reactivate the products you use.

Conclusion:

Sticking to this strict Korean beauty diet every day can get overwhelming, but many celebrities and beauty influencers are swearing by the results. It involves targeting specific skin-related problems with ideal beauty products. Therefore, if the results are flattering, then it is worthwhile to try.
